Sydney Scorpions 2020 AGM Update

Sydney Scorpions 2020 Annual General Meeting took place on Monday 3 August, 2020.  Thank you to all who attended including Dean Russell from NSWTA.

In what has been a very challenging year, we also received the sad news with the passing of NSWTA and Sydney Scorpions Life Member Gary Croft. Gary’s memory will live fondly in the hearts and minds of all within our region and beyond.

A highlight of the year was the NTL Scorpions Dinner in March 2020, where our two All Abilities teams attended enjoying the evening and the spot-light attention.  The night was also highlighted by the addition of three Hall of Fame inductees plus the newly introduced Heath Cooper Medal for 20 years Playing Service.

Sydney Scorpions committee would like to thank Tim Kitchingham who has stepped down from the Executive Committee and Finance Director role.  Kitch has given his beloved Scorps more than 15 years of outstanding service, a highlight of which being the proud recipient of the Rod Wise Medal as NSWTA Volunteer of the Year.  Kitch also hands over the Regional Merchandise Manager role to the capable hands of Michelle Geros.

Additional thanks to Dave Nolan who has also completed his tenure on the committee. Dave has played an important role in Scorpions juniors whilst developing talent leading to success and we wish him all the best with his future endeavours.

In the Junior Directors portfolio we have several talented individuals who are already adding value to Scorpions juniors.  We welcome the Regional Juniors Director for Boys, Craig Lowe and Nhut Trinh and the Regional Juniors Director for Girls Carol Jones and Edith Nathan.

Brad Curl has been re-appointed on the Executive Committee as Assistant Regional Director.

In addition Scorpions welcome one of the most talented sports administrators in touch football, Johanne Joe who has joined Scorpions Executive Committee as Finance Director and additionally joins the Scorpions High Performance Unit.  Johanne will no-doubt make the perfect addition to the Scorps committee with the right can-do attitude which is required to achieve positive outcomes for the region.

Personal thanks to both NSW Touch and Sydney Scorpions on my Scorpions Life Membership which was warmly received. To be the fifth Scorpions Life Member is a great honour. The passion I hold for Scorps is driven by our committee, officials plus players both young and old who wear the Scorps colours with so much pride and joy.  Thank you to everyone for their help and personal support along this journey including Brett Gillard, Tim Kitchingham, Brad Mitchell, Brad Curl, Barry Gibson and Stuart & Michelle Geros.

Regards,
Anthony Dudeck
Regional Director
