2014/15 Blues Award Winners

Congratulations to NSWTA for another successful Blues Awards Night which was held on Saturday evening at the Bankstown Sports Club. Once again Scorpions affiliates and players were amongst the major award winners with Hills Hornets President & Scorpions Technical Director Brad Mitchell taking out the prestigious Rod Wise Medal (Volunteer of the Year) in just his first year of being nominated for the award. Tim Kitchingham took out the Rod Wise Medal just 12 months ago so this is yet another excellent result for Scorpions. Brad Mitchell was also awarded the NSWTA Administrator of the Year, sharing the award with Kathy Lang from Mudgee Touch Association.

Our Elite 8 NSW Scorpions pairing of Sam Brisby (Manly Warringah) and Kai Simbolon (Parramatta) also took out awards. Brisby won the NSWTA Male Player of the Year after a successful year which included being part of the victorious Australian Men’s Opens World Cup winning team. Simbolon was awarded the NSWTA Junior Male Player of the Year in what has also been a big year which included Australian representation at the Youth Trans-Tasman.

Hannah Dyball (Manly Warringah) made it back-to-back success once again winning the NSWTA Junior Female Player of the Year.  It’s also been a big year for Dyball which included her debut for the Australian Women’s Opens team at the World Cup – at just 17 years of age.  Tim Kitchingham was awarded the NSWTA Selector of the Year.

Moving onto the Affiliate of the Year and Hills Hornets Touch added to their success from last year by once again taking out the award – this time through a tie with Manly Warringah Touch Association. Both affiliates were awarded Affliate of the Year within the Scorpions region and then took out the main state award. This is a fantastic achievement congratulations to all involved in both affiliates.
